Nashua Police Department
Here at the Animal Hospital of Nashua, we see patients that come in all sizes, shapes and colors. We also see patients that have many different types of jobs. One example is the dogs of the Nashua Police Department. These dogs hold a very special place in our hearts, and draw some well-deserved attention to themselves.
These fascinating animals have proven their worth time and time again. They play a pivotal role in keeping our community safe. Barry, Ginger, Mautz and Roni have assisted their handlers in such patrol operations as, tracking criminals from crime scenes, searching for lost individuals, building searches, apprehending fleeing suspects, narcotics, and searching for bodies.
Another important part of their job is public relations. These well-trained dogs enjoy showing off their skills at community programs such as demonstrations during citizen academies, annual law enforcement shows, schools, civic organizations, and local businesses such as the Animal Hospital of Nashua. Roni did a narcotics search demonstration in our doctor’s office during our annual “Oktoberfest”. Needless to say, Roni put on a perfect performance finding the hidden “stash” in no time at all.
The Nashua Police Department started organizing their Police Canine Unit in November of 1995 with the help of local businesses who donated money, supplies and labor. Currently the Nashua P.D. has four canines, each with their own handler. The Animal Hospital of Nashua takes pride in caring for the canine members of our Nashua Police Force.
Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire (ARL)
At the Animal Hospital of Nashua, we are proud to be good neighbors by participating in community events to improve the quality of life for our pet population. We continue to partner with the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire (ARL) to sponsor frequent fund-raising events including the Annual Pet Step and Evening of Compassion. Our doctors and staff volunteer for the ARL providing care and some surgical services to animals rescued from difficult situations, including some recent hoarding cases.
If you are looking to adopt an animal into your life, the ARL is a great place to find a family member. We give the first exam free if you come to us with a pet adopted from the league.
American Cancer Society
Our doctors and staff are always willing to participate in activities sponsored by charitable organizations such as the American Cancer Society which sponsors the Bark for Life, an annual dog walk event held in New Boston, New Hampshire. The inspiring walk is always one our staff looks forward to each year. We continue to reach out to communities in our state and also in our neighboring state of Massachusetts to provide medical resources and educational material to residents.
Working with Schools
We are happy to host organizations such as the Girl Scouts by providing tours of our hospital and instructional courses in pet care. We will also visit schools upon invitation to present demonstrations of pet care, offering our young citizens hands-on instruction in first aid and giving them the opportunity to ask questions about their furry friends. We often work with Mount Ida, Becker College, and Great Bay Community College.
We are Here to Help!
The Animal Hospital of Nashua is a valuable asset to organizations in our local community, extending time and resources to provide food for our human and pet population. During the Christmas season we offer complimentary pictures of Santa with the family pet. Our participants are asked to bring a donation of food for local pet shelters or food pantries. This past Christmas, we were a drop off location for Toys-for-Tots. We received many generous donations for children.
Dedicated to promoting the quality of life for animals, our hospital and staff provide support to the community. The Animal Hospital of Nashua, founded in 1985, has been a valuable community resource for many years. We are always here to help.
